Found a Journal!

Well, actually it’s an A4 artist Sketchbook, but it has lots of blank pages for me to write, draw, and stick things too so I’m happy!  Of course since I found it, I had to make a start, so here is what I have so far:

The first journal entry I wrote after finding out (with a picture of the positive test)

A week in review and the Bounty 6 week update.

Some of the comments we received on Facebook when we told people.

As you can imagine, I still have many pages to do just from the first couple of weeks, we have been for our midwife’s appointment, seen the doctor and had all the bloods done but then we are going to an event at the local health centre for new parents and parents to be tomorrow.  So there is plenty to write about, and plenty to add in the few coming weeks, hopefully I will have a scan picture to put in soon as well!

One course down…

and one to go! I got my assignment mark back today for the final assignment on A177, I was only aiming for 40% on each of them as it was a level 1 course that didn’t count to my degree and was only pass or fail.  I got 60% on the first one and 58% on the second one.  That is a pass overall and I am happy with it.  Besides, it also means that I have more hours in the day for stitching, writing and of course studying E301.  Fingers crossed I can start to pull my grades up for it.

I’ve done a little stitching today on the Margaret Sherry Kitty in a Cup from Cross Stitch Card Shop. I didn’t get very far as I had to dig through my stash for a colour that had been omitted from the free kit.  I know it’s free and all but I do believe if you are going to give something away like a kit – it should be complete.  This is one of my biggest pet peeves of Cross Stitching magazines in the UK.  Due to the amount of time taken to find the right colour I didn’t do all that much stitching, I still have a little of the white and all of the back stitching to do on this piece to complete it.

IMAG0243

As you can see from the size of the keys on my keyboard behind the stitching, on 22 count aida he comes out around 1.5 inches in diameter.  I have some lovely little cards that he will fit just nicely into as well, I will be taking him with me tomorrow to Andrew’s Nan’s house while they are moving things around.  I always get told not to lift etc, which at the moment would be very good advice as my back is terrible.  Fingers crossed I will get a good nights sleep to see me through the day.  I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Happy Stitching!

I’ve finished a corner!

I’ve finished one of the corners today.  Of course, I will be doing some more later on this evening once I have done some more writing but for now here is my update x

IMAG0238

I’m absolutely loving the colours.  I can’t wait to get some more of this thread Smile I was looking on Claire’s blog this morning and one lady has used beads around certain parts of the design and it looked brilliant.  I’ve already decided to make this into a biscornu once it is finished and I have some seed beads that match the colours of this thread so I think once I’ve finished I will edge the biscornu with them.

As for writing, well today I haven’t done much at all, I’ve written a letter to a friend abroad other than that; nothing.  Yesterday I managed to write 1400 words though and the second novella in the Old Magick series is getting ever closer to completion.  I’m off to answer my emails now and then do some more on it.

Happy Stitching everyone x

Today’s Post

I have only got a quick post for you today as I haven’t done much stitching yesterday.  Here is my latest update:

IMAG0235

As you can see I’m still working on the same corner but it is coming along.  I might do a little stitching later on today but for now I’m in a writing mood so I’m going to do a little work on the second book in the ‘Old Magick’ series.  The first one is still being purchased on a regular basis on Amazon and I have had some very positive reviews and comments.  The second book is currently half written as I needed to do some research into particular aspects of Tudor life and times in the north of England and the Kings court.  It is all coming together now and the words do seem to flow when I start writing but I have to be in the right mood.

Other than that, not much is going on.  I haven’t had my result back for A177 yet, though I doubt that will come through for a couple of weeks.  I am on course for a 2:2 with my level three course, not overly happy about it but due to the last grade I got being so low there is no realistic way for me to pull the mark back up.  I would need to get at least 30% higher in all of my assignments from now on and that is no easy feat.  Very few people achieve more than one distinction in this type of course and I am just not one of them.  Now I only have one course on the go I am going to put as much effort as possible into it, there was an awful lot of reading involved with A177 considering it was only a 10 point, 12 week course, reading 2 Shakespeare plays in that time (especially with Christmas and other assignments to contend with) was a little unrealistic.  I’ll be happy with a pass of any level on that course though as it is a pass or fail only, it isn’t graded.  According to one of the tutors on the student forum we should have our grade within two weeks and the official pass or fail by 16th March 2012.  I shall keep you updated.

The newsletter for Kirsty’s Kross Stitch has been sent out for February and so far I have had some lovely comments on the free chart.  I can’t wait to see it stitched up as I left it one colour so I would imagine many people will stitch it using specialist hand dyed threads 🙂 and with those each one will come out differently.  There is also a link on the facebook page to sign up for the newsletter now as well and requests have been coming in thick and fast for people to sign up 🙂  There have been updates and additions to the website including new kits and the facebook stitch-a-long has been given it’s own pride of place on the site too.  If you want to do the stitch-a-long there will be a page a month added until June of the flower chart, it’s free for you to join in and the chart is free too.  I hope to see some updates soon!

Oh dear, I said it was going to be a quick post, sorry! I am off now though, so until next time;

Happy Stitching!

A Sneak Peak

For all those of you that have read and liked ‘Old Magick’ here is a sneak peak of part two Smile

He approached from behind, with a firm hand covering the officers’ mouth he lifted him bodily out of the chair as though he was nothing more than a small child. The other two continued what they were doing while Francis drained their comrade outside the very tent they worked in, blissfully unaware of his disappearance. Francis was expecting the onslaught of memories, but these shook him to the core. This officer had been in the army since an early age, he had seen fierce battles and lost men, and executed his own men as traitors when they had tried to run. He had even sent people to their deaths in the concentration camps. His last memory was of a band of emaciated children being forced into the gas chambers. His last thought was that God had come to punish him.

Just a quick peak of what there is to come Smile I am hoping to have a sample of the first two chapters done by the start of the new year – don’t forget to pop back and have a look!

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, Thrilling, and Unique twist on the Vampire and Magic Legend rolled into one exciting story, 3 Dec 2011

By D. Everetti “author of “Punishing a Good … – Published on Amazon U.S.

This review is from: Old Magick (Kindle Edition)

Kristyanne Ross’ “Old Magick” is a new, thrilling, and unique but spine-tingling take on the paranormal legends. The main character is named Loshelle. She is a born purebred vampire with magic running through her veins. Her father died when she was young and her mother disappeared not long after that. Soon everything she has known and believed is about to change. She is suddenly thrust into a whole new world, fighting not only for her life but also the lives of those she holds dear and her race in general. And this is where I stop as you need to pick up your own copy of this great book to find out what happens to Loshelle and those she loves.
Kristyanne Ross has created a whole new refreshing and unique take on the vampire genre. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Loshelle and her family. If you enjoy a good vampire/magic story than pick up your copy today, you won’t be disappointed.

Old Magick Part Two

Is on its way.  I have the first two chapters written and I know what happens in some scenes and the end.  It’s time for a new tactic, I will be writing the ending before the middle.  As for the middle, I will be storyboarding specific scenes this weekend whilst stitching away.  Although storyboarding is normally used for television, film, and cartoons, I find it is a useful tool for writing a novella or even short story.

As each chapter is made up of separate scenes I will detail the scenes first, determine where they go and then fill in the blanks so to speak.  If you write and want to try storyboarding for yourself, there is an easy way to do it.  For each scene you have take an index card, write on the characters in the scene, the location and  a brief overview of each scene.  For example:

Characters:

Loshelle, Ryan, Tennyson and Kyle

Location:

Basement corridor in Wintering estate

Action:

Loshelle finds Tennyson and Kyle arguing over Ryan.

That’s it, all you need on your card.  From the details I’ve listed above, I know that in this scene, Loshelle is woken during the daylight hours to a racket on the floor below.  When she gets downstairs she finds Kyle and Tennyson arguing over whether or not to wake her up for help with Ryan as he hasn’t fed since the change.

Once you have got all your cards together, all you have to do is lay them out in order and fill in what happens to get you from one scene to the next.
