My Journey

From mind to paper and back again.

Making Memories.

on March 22, 2013

Well, not much – we seem to be busy all the time with not much happening and not much down time 😦 I’ve decided the weather isn’t helping things.

Oliver is doing nothing but grow at the moment – we have had to put him into 6-9 month old clothes already.  Not because he needs it on the waist, in fact the waists are big, but his legs are so long that he couldn’t straighten them in 3-6 month baby grows and the pyjama’s were so high up his legs it was getting silly.

We have also had to buy him a new swimming suit as he is getting too big for that one too!  He got stage one in his swimming lessons on Tuesday so this is a nice treat for him 🙂

I have decided to make a memory quilt for him out of the clothes he has grown out of (we have many in many sizes) and one of the things I want to do is make little pockets to go on the quilted pieces and fill them with teddies made out of his baby socks.  I’ve had a go today and it wasn’t a very good attempt, so instead, I have asked someone who does it as a job to see if they can make miniatures out of his preemie and newborn socks – by making the quilt it will mean that his box for keepsakes isn’t overflowing by the time he is one, but he will have something so special that it will be unique and his alone.

What did you do to keep your little ones things safe?  Did you get the needle and thread out at all?

Kirstyanne it’s so lovely that Oliver got a swimming certificate, that’s definitely one to keep. Glad to hear about your idea of a quilt, it’s great and will be something special. You’re in my thoughts. God bless. Love Mandy Currie
