My Journey

From mind to paper and back again.

Worse on the Medication

on September 25, 2012

Okay so I got a call last night at around 7.30pm from the midwife on call in the hospital to tell me my blood tests had come back and there had been a rise in my bile acids.  The normal range is below 5, and with the URSO medication I had managed to bring mine down to 7.2 from 33.2, well the blood work that they did on Saturday at the hospital shows they have risen to 40.4! So they are worse now than they were when I first went into the hospital 2 weeks ago… My ALT was also on the way back up at 119.  The midwife asked me to go back in today for extra monitoring and blood works instead of waiting until tomorrow.  So I dropped Andrew off this morning and I made my way to the hospital again.  I was worried that they would keep me in since when my blood work was 33.2 they kept me in for a week.  Luckily though when the registrar came down to review my notes she was happy for me to come home after being on the monitor an hour and having my bloods taken.  I feel slightly like a pin cushion and have to go back on Thursday, Saturday and Monday.  On Thursday and Saturday I have to have the monitor, blood test and samples done and then on Monday I have the same but I also have a growth scan and consultant appointment.  Hopefully at that point I will know more about what will happen next.  I’m starting to feel rather fed up now with it all especially as in the night I am no longer waking up needing to scratch but am scratching myself awake between 5 and 10 times a night.  I look like I have been clawed by a cat today.

On the  other hand I have worked out that if I am stitching I’m not itching!  Mainly because my hands are doing something and my mind is elsewhere but I have found I have to stop and have a scratch every now and again even when I’m concentrating on my QS Blue Butterfly. This is how far I got today after finishing a set of feet! I can’t believe how much it has come on in just a couple of days of stitching.  Excuse the frame mark xxx

I hope everyone else is well and you have all had a good few days x

Hello Kirstyanne, this really has been a long haul for you. I’m not surprised you feel like a pincushion. My thoughts and prayers are with you every day. You have made great progress on your latest design, I’m so impressed with your determination, I still haven’t picked up a needle. I think I need a bomb dropping near me to jerk me into action or something. Good for you girl, you keep it up. I’m so glad they didn’t keep you in, it must be very upsetting and frustrating, hang in there love.
    Love Mandy

Thank you as always Mandy x I haven’t done any stitching at all today 😦 I had such a bad night last night I was too tired to pick my needle up. Then again that is probably a good thing as I have had to unpick enough mistakes in the Heaven and Earth chart already, I don’t want to cause any more x
Have you tried maybe stitching one of the mini kits that come free with the magazines to get your bug back? It always helps with me as it comes to life so much faster when they are small x
    Hope you are well xxxx
    Me x
