My Journey

From mind to paper and back again.

On the Buses

on December 2, 2008

A place to think and a place to eat

If you want the last stop then a place to sleep

The journey takes three times as long

No car driver would ever take this route

To and from work on their daily commute

The road mounts and the traffic swells

People getting off ring the bells

The driver’s alert but there’s nowhere to go

The journey has stopped

All that’s missing is snow

With nothing to do and nowhere to play

The kids on the bus cause mayhem all day

Jumping on seats and blocking the aisle

The parents aren’t watching

So the kids just smile

I wouldn’t expect to get an ounce of work done

Here on the bus

It just isn’t fun.

Hi hon, I like this poem, definitely captures the feel of a bus journey. It\’s just the last line of stanza 3 that doesn\’t fit too well. I think I know where you\’re going with it, but it doesn\’t seem to quite paint the sarcastic smile of the kids when they know they are infuriating you and they are getting away with it. Other than that, it\’s good 🙂
